Today we are living in a World where saving the planet is an immensely important issue in everything we do - none more so than controlling carbon emissions and saving energy in the houses we live in.

But there is good news. Saving energy also saves money. By having the proper insulation in your roof you will definitely save heating costs in the home while saving energy resources for our planet.

And today the Government also has its say. There are rules covering home insulation, Part L of the Building Regulations state what U Values and Lambda Values are needed to achieve the required insulation efficiency. There are the new HIPS schemes which dictate that any homeowner selling a home needs to have survey carried out to show, amongst other things, that the insulation is installed and working properly. So this is not an issue to be taken lightly.

There may be contractors out there who will say “Don’t worry - we can save you a few pounds by not providing the insulation upgrade”. This would be a false saving and liable to end in tears.

Properly calculated, costed and installed, an Insulation upgrade should not put too much burden on the project cost - and of course your project may not fall into an insulation upgrade category, but you need to know for sure before you commit to the final project.
